On the Daily

On the daily. I cannot believe that God has called and chosen and equipped me for His calling...

On the daily. I am amazed that God has given me the blessing of my wife, my help-meet, my soul's supporter, my lover, my friend, my confidant, my ride or die- Michelle Wallace!

On the daily. I am eternally grateful to have a ring-side seat to watch the lives of the two greatest kids (in my unbiased estimation) grow up and be counted for God's Kingdom! I am eternally humbled that He has entrusted to me, the tender hearts of Gunner and Ember to shepherd! These two continually humble me and leave me standing in awe!

On the daily. I am honored to be an under-shepherd for the good and faithful people of Life Change Church! Together, we have seen God do the remarkable, improbable, and miraculous! On the daily. I have been given by God the opportunity to work for a man that loves God, me, my family, and our church; and allows those things to come before the demands of "secular" work... While helping lighten the financial load of all of the things a fore mentioned!

Simply put. On the daily. I am fortunate to be alive after the mistakes of my youth, blessed by God far beyond what I could hope think, or even imagine. And, at every turn I TRY to keep these thoughts in the front of my life and living.

Keep on Slugging

No matter how you feel like the last round went... Or, you find  yourself against the ropes in the middle of a round and you're getting  CLOBBERED... You feel like the Devil is giving you the "rope-a-dope"...  Go ahead and throw your hand up in victory! In the midst of the fight...

You may've just forgotten that the Ref actually controls the fight!  It's His job to protect the safety of the fighter! You may've also  forgotten that The Judge has ALREADY scored the fight... Not on how YOU  feel, but on what HE sees and knows! Flashing through your mind are  thoughts of how you, believing yourself to be an amateur fighter fresh  from the safety of headgear and pads, could've ever ended up in the ring  with such a grizzled, chiseled veteran! Ahhhh! But, the Judge... Don't  get me wrong... He's there! But to Him it's like watching grainy,  highlight, reel reruns  because the fight your in now has already been  judged, and scored, and declared! In fact, THIS Judge has already seen "THAT DOPE" against that rope  win some amateur bouts. He was at the  table the night you walked away with a pair of golden gloves! While  you're in your corner, battered between rounds, considering not pushing  off of the stool... He just rendered His decision that adds a gold medal  to sit next to those golden gloves! And, as the Ref is hoisting your exhausted arm declaring victory... He's reminiscing of seeing a golden, heavyweight champ belt pulled around your waist.

After scoring every one of your fights, from a plane different than yours... Mostly wins, but a  few losses in a storied career the Judge smirks and chuckles as He pushes away from the card of that "early fight" (the one you're in  now)... As His mind recalls an interview... With a young columnist...  Shocked to have a moment with the legendary "Judge" after the funeral of  what many are calling "One of the greatest to ever don the trunks and  gloves" he asks, "Judge, unbelievably you had the privilege to score  every single round of every single bout in this illustrious career... In  your opinion, greatest fighter you've ever seen?!"

Mostly wins, but a  few losses in a storied career the Judge smirks and chuckles as He pushes away from the card of that "early fight" (the one you're in  now)... As His mind recalls an interview... In  your opinion, greatest fighter you've ever seen?!"

The Judge, after a  nostalgic look to the heavens smirks and says... "You young kids have some dusty footage of yesteryear's boxing champs, and distant stories of  your granddad's favorite legend... And everyone wants to say this ‘one was this, and that one was that...’ What I do know is that the kid could scrap! In my mind, and I'm pretty definitive on this, the single greatest fighter I've ever seen walked away from the sport at the pinnacle of His life and career. He went on to become a legend, oddly enough, not as much for what He did in His short fighting career, but what He did to ensure the safety of fighters all over the  world... As a Referee!" The young columnist seems to rack his statistics-filled mind, but only comes away with a glazed look... "It was MY BOY! He moved... With such grace! He had a chin like a Smith's anvil! I saw Him, son, in one fight... Early in His career take a combination that  would have leveled the toughest champ from the days of bare-fisted  bouts! When you can move, take a hit, and you hold knock-out power... In your left- no less! You're going to gain a following! He was so  humble with the fans, and merciful to the columnists who couldn't stand his success! In, what would prove to be, His final bout... He came out and took the most unmerciful woopin' I've ever seen a man take! At one point, in the late late rounds He went down again! It was more than a dad could bear to watch. I looked away! Before my eyes could re-adjust... That boy had popped up, and handed a knockout blow that  people still talk about today! Then, He walked away. Committing his remaining time to the safety and the promotion of the fighters and the  fights! Without a doubt! Your fighter was an all-time great and today the world lost a champ! It's just that every fight I ever judged, on my card, I scored him, 'One. Opponent zero!' It was that way with every  fight my son ever reffed!" The columnist was beyond confused! Thrown fights?! A new boxing scandal?! Had he unearthed proof of the truth of  what had always been rumored, but never proven?! The Judge responds, "My  job is to call every fight the way I see it, and score it accordingly! And for all these decades, son, that's what I've done. With my integrity  in tact. It's just that I saw every round through father's eyes, and every fight through the lens of my Son's ‘last round, knock-out win’!"  Without another whisper the Judge... Slipped away.

Just keep swinging! I think... No! I know! You're winning! The Judge told me so! You DO NOT want to miss Sunday morning at Life Change Dallas
