Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I don't know about all that, but I do know #Jesus said, "He that finds his life will lose it and he that loses his life, for My sake, will find it." What you see here IS a guy who LOVES what he does, and I only found that after losing what I thought would bring me happiness. That has nothing to do with "secular career vs. full-time ministry," or "financial gains or losses in pursuing Christ," or "ease or trials in life!" I lived for twenty-seven-and-a-half years for the sake of only one person... ME! In those years I found, what I thought to be, the pinnacle of what I wanted to do and be in life. Life as a Marine, corporate success, physical fitness, earning beyond the income standard I ever imagined... In my soul though I knew... In all of my "winning" I was losing! I'm thankful that on February 25th, 2007 I decided to lose my idea of success and seek serving the sake of Christ and others. In so doing, I found that my "losing was truly my winning!" I don't know that I feel like I've never worked a day in the days since! But I am confident, on the difficult days, that I have a deep abiding love and peace in the truth that "losing" is "winning" and in my weakness is strength! Echoing the words of my mentor and friend, Steven Boyd Curington, "I'VE GOT IT MADE! BUT NOT IN THE SHADE... IT'S HOT UP HERE!"
