"The Church" truly is about living life together... In Scripture it is metaphorically seen as a body with each person playing a part in a singular purpose - living and living well... Obviously, amputations are bad, by and large, for the human body. In other words, the body lives it's best it lives together. The Church is also seen as a marriage. Marriage is, at its base a covenant partnership this partnership is based in love and led by Christ... The Church, seen as "the bride" lives to love and support and build her groom.
With these realizations come great responsibility. We are not casually "a part" of a church. We literally are THE CHURCH! A covenant member, a spouse, a living functioning part of a body. That's not scary! That's awesome! To me, it says that, in a world full of people searching for ways and places to make a difference those of us who have a place in the church do not have that struggle! We are active members of the greatest romantic search and rescue story ever told.
